World Champs; City Chase – Rome, sees Sporting Spectrum’s winning Hong Kong team respectfully place fourth.

ROME, ITALY – October 10, 2007 – The Hong Kong team made up of Ng Chung Ting, Elton and Wong Wai-Kin place fourth after more than 50 hours of effort to celebrate a fine finish in the 2007 City Chase World Championship. The inaugural event took place September 27 to 29, 2007 in Rome, Italy.

Equipped with nothing but an empty backpack and the clothes on their back – no money, no cell phone, and no food or water – 10 teams representing Australia, Canada, England, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Spain, Singapore, Portugal and the United States were off and running immediately after landing in Rome.

The Hong Kong team made up of Ng Chung Ting, Elton and Wong Wai-Kin, Kin made it through the grueling two-day challenge to place 4th after the winning Canadian team, followed by the Australian and English teams. While the Singapore team, Tat Wee, Alan Soh and Song Niah, Clarence Yap unfortunately were knocked out early during day one. Chris Robb, Managing Director of Sporting Spectrum the Asian-rights holder of the global City Chase series commented, “A magnificent effort made by both Asian teams, to battle it out until the end in the World’s Largest Urban Adventure Series. We are very proud of their efforts and we look forward to entering more Asian teams in 2008 as we grow the series around the region with the addition of three new Asian stops.”

Engaged in an epic multi-day battle for the title of World Champions, the two first-time Asian teams from Singapore and Hong Kong had to navigate their way through the streets of Rome, employing their wits, stamina, physical strength and sense of humour to complete 22 ChasePoint challenges.

Part urban obstacle course, part scavenger hunt, the World Championship pushed comfort zones as participants battled Gladiator-style, built chariots, were painted nude by an artist, entered a cave dating back to 600 BC, tipped their kayak in the Tiber river, jumped out of a three-story window and were stopped by the police for indecent exposure for wearing “Borat-kinis” in the metro.

The winning team crossed the finish line at the picturesque Rome Coliseum after completing three days of intense competition. For their efforts they will receive a grand prize trip to Everest Base Camp offered by G.A.P. Adventures.
