OCBC Cycle Singapore 2010 Early Bird smashes registration targets!
The second OCBC Cycle Singapore is set to be a sell-out event as early-bird registration numbers have already surpassed the total number of participants in 2009!
At the end of the ‘early-bird offer’ which concluded at midnight on November 11th, 5,315 riders had signed up for the challenge which takes place on 6th and 7th March 2010. The inaugural event in February drew a remarkable 5,373 cyclists including the 60 professional who took part in the Pro-criterium.
In line with Spectrum Worldwide and OCBC’s vision of growing the event into a festival of cycling and extending it to two days in 2010, the uptake since the launch less than a month ago is a true sign of the passion for cycling in Singapore and the potential the event has to expand into a full "Tour of Singapore".
“After the launch on 14th October, the website has been red-hot with sign-ups and we are delighted with the numbers so far. We knew that after the success of the first event that even more riders would be keen to join us and it looks as though we will exceed any targets we set and have a fantastic two days of cycling for everyone from young children to the professionals that will be joining us, said Chris Robb, Managing Director of Spectrum Worldwide.”
A popular new element to next year’s event is the exclusive OCBC Cycle Singapore Merchandise range which can be purchased online. Ranging from a customised OCBC Cycle Singapore bike to shorts and gloves, you can be kitted out from head to toe and cycle as you train for the big event. To date, more than 35 bikes have been purchased and 500 other pieces of merchandise flying off the shelves.
The 2010 race will take place on fully closed public roads and will reach maximum capacity quickly so those wishing to take part are advised to register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Participants should also check out the Event Charities section on the website to start raising funds for the official charities while getting fit and having fun.
True to the event tagline ‘Anyone Can Ride’, OCBC and Spectrum World Wide hope that all ages and abilities will get involved in this mass-participation cycling event next year which will be a carnival of activities and a great weekend for all the family.
