Fly to Europe for free with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines!

OCBC Cycle Singapore announced today that they had taken their unique route viewing experience a step further with the launch of an on-line contest with the Official Airline for OCBC Cycle Singapore, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.  At the end of 2009, OCBC Cycle Singapore had announced that participants could take advantage of a unique route-viewing experience using real-life images from Google Street View for all OCBC Cycle Singapore routes, and subsequently, users now have the chance to win air tickets to Europe and earn virtual miles through the website.

By simply exploring the OCBC Cycle Singapore rides and sharing the maps with friends and family, participants will earn virtual miles that put them in contention for a free flight to Amsterdam, Paris or London, courtesy of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. The top 10 participants accumulating the highest amount of Virtual Miles over the duration of The Game will be awarded with an additional 5,000 KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Award miles on their Flying Blue membership.

Users will be able to navigate between routes of different distances and experience first-hand, the twists and turns involved in the various rides.

The website and contest were developed and designed by The Upper Storey, the digital agency handling all marketing creative for OCBC Cycle Singapore, which includes print, outdoor, and offline elements, as well as the digital campaign. This marks the first time that a sporting event in Singapore has used Google Street View on its website and as part of the event experience. The contest runs until 7 March, 2010.

Chris Robb, Managing Director of Spectrum Worldwide, OCBC Cycle Singapore event owner and organiser said, “Spectrum Worldwide and OCBC Cycle Singapore are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Google Street view and our official airline KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to allow registrants the opportunity to have fun with the site and stand a chance to win great prizes at the same time.  The virtual world continues to grow in its importance so we feel that our event website and interactive partnerships are vital avenues in which to interact with participants and the many ‘netizens’ out there.”

The 2010 event will take place on fully closed public roads on 6 and 7 March. Registration is open until 19th February, with over 7,000 participants signed-up to date.
